Celebrating World Female Ranger Day with Power of Mama.

There’s no better moment to introduce you to some of the most remarkable women in conservation, than on World Female Ranger Day 2026!

If you haven’t already, meet Power of Mama.

Power of Mama is made up of 124 women, organised into seven teams with one mission: to fight fires and protect critical habitat in West Kalimantan, Borneo. They are mothers, daughters, and community leaders – and the first line of defence for some of the most threatened rainforests on Earth.

They are trained, equipped, and ready – and it’s thanks to your amazing support.

This year, Borneo is facing an El Niño weather pattern. That means longer dry seasons, less rainfall, and higher risks of deadly wildfires. For the forests these women protect, and the Critically Endangered wildlife like orangutans who depend on them, fires aren't just dangerous. They are catastrophic.

Over the past few months, Power of Mama have:

  • Completed 469 patrol days
  • Protected 14,200 hectares of fire-prone farmland

That’s the equivalent of 23 days out on patrol every month, for every single team. And while the number of patrol days was slightly down compared to the previous few months, they covered exactly the same amount of ground. That’s not a coincidence. That’s women growing stronger and teams working smarter.

During these patrols, Power of Mama found:

  • 369 fire-prone areas
  • 82 sites with signs of burning
  • 34 active fires

34 fires that could have torn through vital habitat: stopped. Because these women were there.

And they couldn’t do any of this without you.

Your support gives them the training, equipment, and the tools they need to show up, day after day. You give them the means to protect not just the forest, but their communities, wildlife, and their futures.

On World Female Ranger Day, we celebrate women like the Power of Mama. Women who don't wait for change, but go out and fight for it.

Thank you for standing with them! Your kindness gives Power of Mama the strength to fight the fires threatening their forests and communities. And on World Female Ranger Day, we celebrate them, and you, for leading change.
